Restoring

We are now going to look at a few examples of dolmen. The dolmen in our first photo was sent to us urgently by Janet Cavanagh and shows a badly neglected dolmen in county Clare in southern Ireland. As many people know Ireland is a country rich in dolmen and other megalithic sites but sadly many of them are derelict and neglected as is this example. Their only visitors are the local sheep!

ssshhh!!!...if you enter this dolmen, theres a secret..click on the door and see!!

Try not to be Proud when you enter a Dolmen and you can see a Restorer at work

However, all is not lost. The dolmen restorers from the future are on hand to rectify this sorry state of affairs. But we need your help. Check the condition of your local dolmen now and report to us your findings so we can begin the arduous task of restoring them.

Restored dolmen

Our next dolmen is the local dolmen to the dolmen restorers from the future and as you can see there has been some restoration completed by the restorers and it is in much better repair. It is called Legananny dolmen and is situated in the N.E. of Ireland.

Finally, we come to another badly dilapidated dolmen which is again situated local to the restorers. In this case the actual capstone (weighing more than 50 tons) is in danger of collapsing so restoration will begin in the summer of 2006. This dolmen is called Goward dolmen.

It is now evident to all, the enormity of the task facing the dolmen restorers from the future so we will be grateful for your support and observing the condition of YOUR local dolmen. The news page will inform as to progress and will be updated regularly…
